Kati Isabel Gonzalez-Paez is originally from Venezuela and joined FLS in 2018 as a paralegal. At FLS, she worked on prison litigation including, but not limited to, mental health issues, solitary confinement of minors, and institutional sexual violence. She currently works with unaccompanied immigrant children as part of our project on immigrant and migrant rights. Isabel received a law degree from the Central University of Venezuela in 2012, completed paralegal training at Capital University-Columbus Ohio in 2017, and is currently an L.L.M. candidate at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Isabel worked in her home country as a volunteer lawyer for a non-profit organization (Foro Penal Venezuelano) that provides legal assistance and representation to arbitrarily detained people and political prisoners.
