Students who do not meet the designated threshold grades or other approved exceptions for the IST assessment must, under Texas law, enroll and actively participate in a course and/or academic ability program each semester before meeting all TSI requirements. Academic Skills courses in each of the three TSI areas are offered by Texas A&M. Failure to meet the participation requirements of the Academic Competency Course will result in withdrawal from Texas A&M. The hours of these courses do not count towards a degree program, but may be counted towards the determination of full-time status. These requirements are: Duolingo English Test and English3: Texas A&M University is temporarily accepting Duolingo English Test and English3 online assessments from candidates affected by TOEFL and IELTS exams due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Applicants from affected countries can submit the Duolingo English Test (minimum 105) or English scores3 (minimum 67) to achieve English proficiency for admission in spring 2021. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Texas has changed its approval procedures. By 2021, it will automatically accept the application by eliminating the academic admission option. As for the Texas A&M SAT requirements for 2021, a minimum of 1360 SAT scores with at least 660 scores in the reading and writing section and 620 SAT scores in the math section, while a composite ACT score of 30 with at least 27 in English and 27 in math.
Fresh Start approved applicants have indicated “Academic Fresh Start” on their official Texas A&M transcript, must meet the TSI requirements, and will follow the academic requirements of the undergraduate catalog for the admission period. Admission requirements for transfer vary for the various programs of study offered by the college. Admission decisions are made by Major and are competitive. Most majors have required and recommended courses that must be completed by the student before applying. It is strongly recommended that prospective students contact the student advisor of the major of interest to inquire about the specific admission requirements for the transfer. Students should also refer to the Texas A&M University admissions website to review transfer course sheets for each major. Also note that GPA requirements for transfer admission vary by major, with some exceeding the minimum of 2.5 GPA. In addition to the main campus, Texas A&M offers some bachelor`s degrees at its two branches, Galveston and Qatar, and McAllen`s Center for Higher Education. When enrolled as students in residence at one of the Texas A&M locations, students can request a program change at another location for a later semester. The second BSN Track (Post Baccalaureate) degree is for people who have already earned a bachelor`s degree in another field of study. The third option is a Registered Nurse program at BSN for registered nurses who have an Associate`s degree in Nursing. Prerequisite courses, which form the essential basis of nursing, must be taken by competitive examination before entering the advanced nursing courses. In addition, all students must meet the basic requirements of the Texas A&M University program if they have not already graduated from another institution.
