Newly admitted lawyers must sign the docket. The Registrar provides instructions on how and where to do this. The Order of Admission (LA5) can be completed at any time after the ceremony during working hours. At least three copies must be sealed. Below are the most important dates for group admission ceremonies in major centres in New Zealand. Ceremonies in all other courts can be held once if necessary. Contact the High Court or your local law society for more information. All dates and times are subject to change on short notice. You will need to appoint a lawyer to apply for admission to the ceremony. The court can`t help you find a lawyer. It is important for you to know that the certificate you receive on the day of your admission can only be replaced if it is destroyed by fire, flood or theft. If you need a replacement, you must file an application with the court, supported by affidavits (of destruction by fire, flood or theft). You must pay the appropriate fee to issue a replacement.

Applicants should refer to the “Search the Legal Profession” page on the Legal Practice Board website to find the date of admission of the lawyer for local practitioners (Western Australia). For lawyers licensed in other Australian jurisdictions, applicants should check with their removal agent. You and the defence lawyer who will apply for admission must arrive at the court at least 20 minutes before the admission ceremony begins. In this way, the admission procedure can be explained before the ceremony begins. Applicants seeking admission to Western Australia should refer to Chapter 2 of the Legal Profession Uniform Law (WA), Part 4 of the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2022, Order 75A of the Supreme Court Rules 1971 and Practice Direction 10.1.2. Candidates will have the opportunity to celebrate their ceremony at Te Reo Māori. You must inform the Registrar of the High Court when you request that you wish to hold your ceremony at Te Reo Māori. If you need to change your moving assistance, you must submit an amended application for admission no later than the time specified in your letter from the court.

This amended application for authorization must be submitted to the Conseil des pratiques juridiques within 2 days. If your application is accepted, a sealed copy of the application document will be returned to the Legal Practice Council for service. You must submit an application for leave, including a copy of the application for authorization, to the Council of Legal Practice within 2 days (reg 31 Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Regulations 2022). If any of the information provided in the application is incorrect (such as spelling or typos), you will be contacted and asked to submit an amended bid. A character certificate is valid for 3 months from the date of issue and must be valid on the day of admission (and not on the day of submission of the application). Character certificates take some time to process and will be charged to ensure that your character certificate is still valid at the time of admission. You should also email the court if you have special requirements for your admission so that arrangements can be made before the admission date. For example, you can use your own religious text. Candidates for admission and their lawyer on the move have the option of wearing traditional court attire (wigs, ribbons, white shirt and dresses) or dresses over well-kept clothing. There is no obligation to wear a wig. Candidates and resettlement consultants cannot combine the two options, for example by wearing a wig and tie or ribbons over a tie.
